Hey Graham....funny review! Thanks for saving me the ticket price to another summer stinker.

I did get a bit befuddled by this dual movie reference: "Get your hair done, lose some weight and go to a tropical place to have sex with young hard bodied hotties. C’mon Hollywood, let’s get our groove back." Was that just from How Stella... or was that also from Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Maybe we could name it "Forgetting Stella Marshall's Groove Back?

I agree pretty much 100% with Graham's review. The only thing I think was missing was mention of whats-her-face... Random Female Character.

WARNING:Some minor spoilers below

For one, I think there was a pretty big inconsistancy... She was supposed to be in the IDF, but then when she refers to the op from the first film she refers to them as 'our guys'.

The other thing, the big thing, that pissed me off was how she initially introduced as sort of a bad-ass... she gets the drop on Brody and the Russian, says she's been in every jungle in the world... But then immediately kow-tows to Brody and begins following him with no arguement, for no apparent reason. He hasn't exhibited any superior skills or knowledge, other than a self-assured attitude. And then she's unable to think or do anything for herself without checking with him first, or asking him what he's doing. She's seemingly there to be the compassionate one . And then of course, it's her compassion that is her ultimate undoing and she has to be saved by Brody!!

Chris made a comment on the last episode about Bella setting the feminist movement back 100 years, or something to that effect. That seems to be a common feeling... but I have to say (and this is not aimed particularly at Chris, but at that mind set in general), I think that's bullshit. When you're character is a sheltered, naive 17 year old girl it makes fine sense that she would get herself in to stupid situations and need rescuing. In the normal course of real life that happens fairly often, even without monsters. And to be fair, she's not only saved by men, but by several female vampires and a female werewolf as well... and in the final book she ends up protecting everyone single handed so the overall story exhibits an arc, a growth of the character's ability.

But in Predators, Random Female Character (I can't even remember her name) is supposed to be a capable, strong woman, a fighter. She's supposed to be a strong enough hunter that the Predators bring her to the planet.... but she ends up having to be saved because of her tender female sensibilities.

As a woman, I found that portrayal much more offensive and detrimental than a silly teenager.
